Living Portraits is a series of short films featuring interviews with New Mexico artists, examples of their work, and footage of places and activities important to their lives. The films will be distributed to schools and libraries throughout New Mexico on DVD and VHS.

Shine On You Crazy Diamond

Book cover for Shine On You Crazy Diamond: Poems by Teens and Their Mentors Shine On You Crazy Diamond: Poems by Teens & Their Mentors has just been published to coincide with Poetry Jam. The book is now available here on the CultureNet Web site. It contains sixty-one poems by teens who have participated in poetry programs sponsored by New Mexico CultureNet as well as those New Mexico poets who work with them as mentors.

Artist Showcase

The Artist Showcase exists to open a wider audience to deserving New Mexico writers, artists and performers.


Elena Baca, an Albuquerque native, earned a Master’s degree in Printmaking and Photography at the University of New Mexico, winning the Friends of Art Prize, in 1997. Her work is frequently exhibited at Contemporary Spanish Market, in museums and galleries.

Heritage & Learning

We celebrate New Mexico’s rich heritage by offering insightful looks into the cultures, peoples, and events that have shaped her history. Many of the topics in this section were designed to be used in classroom settings. See more in Heritage & Learning.


Kicking Bear: The Battle of Little Bighorn
